This has to be the first question anyone asked when they start their first work from home project, all be it a fair one. You would be crazy to not task this in any business when you first start. The boys and girls on Wall Street ask it all the time, they call it ROI (return on investment). So let's take a second to look at this very important question.

Right out of the gates the answer may upset you. The cold hard truth is no one knows. Why is this? If you are an entrepreneur or any business minded individual you can appreciate that you cannot give a cold hard date on this due to the fact that are so many factors that make a successful business on or off the internet. Beginning with your work ethic, I don't care how great your product is, or how much money you can make on each unit you sell, if you don't put the work into it people are not going to give you money for nothing. Ask yourself, would you? Secondly, what is the message you are sending with you product? If you have a great product but doing business with you is like chewing tin foil you will not be in business for long. Thirdly your understanding of the industry you are working in. If you don't do your homework in any industry people will out smart your efforts, therefore winning the business of your potential future customers.

There are hundreds of reasons why businesses fail, but you get the point. The one thing I can tell you is that no credible business makes a ton on money over night while you sleep. There has been a false sense of security when it comes to any internet based business. There have been a hand full of people that have made literally millions of dollars in a ridiculously short time frame. This has people believe that anyone with a web based business can do this. If you fall into this category don't feel bad, Wall Street fell for the same mind set with the dot com boom. Problem is people make internet marketing sound as easy as falling off a log.

Take this for instance, I know a way you can make anywhere from 5 to 50 million dollars over night! All you have to do is pick the right 7 numbers at your local convenience store, any ideas on what that opportunity is called? You guessed it, it's the lotto. Now, how easy does that sound? But of course we all know it is not that easy. Same goes with web based work from home projects. These people can make anything sound easy. Now does this mean it is not easy, let's define easy.

Is it easier than putting up red iron in minus 40 degree weather for a living? Is it easier than commuting an hour both ways to a job you can't stand? Of course it is, but is it as easy as buying a product and have it make money while you sleep, well of course not. So you need to understand that even though there is without a doubt money to be made in this line of work, you can't make anything with the mindset that you simply have to breathe in and out and people will send you bucket loads of cash, and I think deep down you already knew that before you read this article.

So would someone please shed a little light on just how long it will take to see progress in your business? I write a full time blog on the subject of working for home and how you can be more effective at it. The bench mark I use with my team is 100 days. If you do not see things starting to move in this time frame there is something broken in your business. That is my job, to figure out what is broken. Now I am not going to get into why I say 100 days, I have written articles on that subject. But I can assure you that it is not just a number I picked out of the air. I'll give you a hint, it all has to do with the search engines picking up your message and getting it out to your future customers.

Now I don't want you to think that web based work from home projects are a lost cause, but I feel obligated to inform you that like any other business out there, you must do some kind of work to see a pay cheque. If you do your home work and understand the line of work you are in and the volume of customers you will have access to, will have most established businesses shaking the heads at how you have done it. Bottom line if used correctly, you have the potential to sell to the world, and not only that most of the time you can promote yourself and your product for free. The way that good marketers on the internet sell their product is they have an understanding of how to locate the exact people that are looking for their product. Trust me, the days of spamming are over as far as selling products. All you do when you spam is scream to the internet that you have no idea what you are doing, so you will talk to anyone that will listen. So as you can see your odds of making a living online is many times much better than a traditional business. You must always keep in mind that this is no different than any other business, the smartest and fastest business owners will always reap the rewards of any sector of business.
