Silent sighs
----------------------------------

Will you please give my toddlers back
For they have grown fast and on track
Ready for a life of their own choice
Piles of wishes in heart kept in stack
Words of care and concern I wish to talk

Will you please give my toddlers back
I didn't note the glee, when given warm bath
Nor the smile when fed rich broth
For I was always in a hurry
To back up with house hold chores

Will you please give my toddlers back
I didn't make them repeat, first word chat
Nor could I admire their tiny feet trot
For I always had to rush to sign
To be in time for the job I cling

Will you please give my toddlers back
I couldn't play hide and seek they sought
Nor could I clap my hands when they laughed
For fatigue made my lids close fast
And mind's alarm set before sun rise

Will you please give my toddlers back
I couldn't sing the lullaby tuned at heart
Nor did I croon and pet them a lot
For I was lonely, sick and weary often
Not a shoulder to share or words to soften.
