It is quite amazing how people find reasons for not doing a thing. Even for brushing teeth , first thing in the morning , kids for example , find excuse for not doing it . They may say , for example , will do after bath, then postpone it for the last work before leaving for school , then say that since already late for school , will do it later. They do not think twice about how important it is to brush , first thing in the morning . Not all schools check these basic issues being followed by students. They may say it is the duty of the parents and not teachers to check such trivial issues !!.

Elders for example , are always late to start for office . They may spend time reading newspapers or gossiping with neighbours ; Or prepare their dresses , for example , ironing them only in the morning before leaving. Some persons even search for their socks etc. Also they do not check their vehicle for petrol , air etc . Do not have time for cleaning their bike etc .

Then there are those who are lazy to go for a walk or do some exercise everyday. They say that they are so busy , they cannot devote time for this activity. They do not mind , sending hours in front of the television and even justify it saying , the relaxation for the eyes and ears have been earned by them after the strenuous work at office. But the same people , when asked by the doctor , to go for walk , by doctors , say that , they cannot get time and ask for medicines to reduce weight.

It is said , it takes 12 days to form a habit. IF someone is interested in getting over lethargy. he can start a better habit and forcrcefully do it for 15 days. Then he/she may get into doing that work voluntarily and make it a habit automatically .

Laziness or lethargy is something which can be got over. Only thing is , the person involved , should try seriously and also get into the practice of starting activities related to the habits to be cultivated , and forcefully do these activities with persistence. Eventually , he/she can get over the inertia and do effectively all his jobs without much ado .

The practical tips are as follows. Give yourself credit for every difficult thing you do . Starting trouble is there for almost everybody. But some push themselves sooner than others, so are the front runners in the race. For others , the tips are as follows. In addition to giving credit to yourself , as said above for every activity of difficult proportions, list out your difficult to do activities. Prioritise them as per importance. Break these urgent woks into smaller sub works. Identify the difficulty level of the work , viz time factor, knowledge factor , burden of the work viz whether individually , it can be tackled , or support of other persons are required ; Whether the correct person is available ; the interest factor for you take up that work etc. Try to identify the negative as well as positive factors of the work to be taken up or the activity to be carried out.

Once you identify the issue and list out these works involved and also understand the issues involved viz the time , money, persons support etc , it will be easier to start the work and carry on with it further.
Every morning , my neighbour spends half an hour to recollect the things to do that day , prioritise them as per importance , lists out the specific preparations needed for these activities etc and thereby overcome the inertia.

Once you are interested in a job it is easier to prepare yourself , get over inertia as ell as do the job well.
