Toyota Motor Corporation that came out with flying colors with its Corolla has recently come up with the advanced version, Corolla Altis to make its customers happy. This is the 10th generation sedan of the Corolla family whose ancestors were introduced in 1960s. But, Corolla is still selling like hot cakes through out the world with the same loyalty that it had when it was launched for the first time in the global market. This sedan has come to update the standard, luxury and style of its family to give us an unforgettable driving experience. The Altis is not only admirable but has also grown in size compared to its predecessors.

Engine and Performance:

Toyota gives a wide variety of options which is quite evident from the fact that Altis comes with ten variants. In petrol engines, these are 1.8J, 1.8G, 1.8GL, and 1.8VL whereas in diesel engine 1.4L HJ, 1.4L HG and 1.4L HL are the ones. Not only this, J, G and GL versions are also available which even includes the CNG Variants showing the care of Toyota for nature.

Petrol engine

The petrol engine of 1.8-Litre seems to be overtaking every member of its family likes never ever before in its performance. This may be because it comes with Variable Valve Timing Intelligence (VVT-i) technology similar to BMW VANOS in performance, generates a power 130 bhp@6000 rpm and torque of 170Nm@4200rpm at its maximum. To be simple about VVT-i, it is a technology which varies the timing of the intake valves as it adjusts the relationship between the camshaft drive and intake camshaft. The fuel consumption is nominal for this sedan. This is what makes the acceleration smooth and gives a pleasurable experience while driving. It also has the trademark Toyota's D4-D technology similar to the Innova and Fortuner. The 1.4L diesel engine generates 87.1bhp and 205Nm of maximum torque without compromising on the fuel economy as it claims to returns 21.42kpl.

Power transmission

The power is transmitted to the front wheels with the help of 6-speed manual transmission for 1.4 HJ, 1.4 HG and 1.4 HL where as it is 5-speed manual transmission system for 1.8J, 1.8G and 1.8GL variants. You can even go in for a 1.8L variant of Corolla Altis with a 4-speed manual transmission with ECT. McPherson Strut front and Torsion beam rear suspensions and Electronic Power Steering are some more features to note.

Design and Build:

The new sedan is filled with grace and is pleasing to the eye. It is well designed adhering to the laws of aerodynamics and has a lower base and a wider body.
It also comes with a smart 15-inch alloy wheels with 7-spoke that sometimes make people to stare at it during a stop at the signal. The 1.8VL model of the comes with features like headlight washers, automatic high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps ,cruise control, an electric lumber supported 8-way power adjustable driver seat together with the auto dimming inside rear view mirror.

Price of the car

The car is priced from a very low cost of 10.9 to 13.8 lakhs.
