Taekwondo is a Korean martial arts method that has become very popular all over the world. The martial art is a method that is used to self defend. The martial art became a sport mainly due to the fact that it caught the imagination of the people during the Olympic Games that were held in Seoul in the year 1988. In fact even the Korean people had seemed to lose their identity when the Japanese army was occupying Korea. The Japanese tried to make the Koreans to lose all their identity, but once the occupation ended, the resurgence in the Korean culture took a sudden turn and there were many people who started using the Taekwondo martial arts as a method that reminded them of their culture.

This was in fact the reason for the Korean national game to be named as Taekwondo. The world was able to see a display of Taekwondo in the Olympic Games. As time went by, there were more people who liked the method of martial arts. In fact, after a year from the time the Olympic games had ended, there were more than 30 million people all over the world who were practicing this method.

The popularity of the Taekwondo also had several other things following the popularity. One was that it was included in many other sports events. One of the recent instances is the time when the sport was included in the recently concluded commonwealth games in New Delhi. This makes one to understand that the popularity of the sport cum martial art is growing in size all the time. More and more people are turning to this method of martial art for various reasons.

There are various aspects that are involved in the playing of the game or in the process in which a person learns the martial art. The process is that since it is the use of both the hands and the feet, the person who is involved in the process of using this method should also try to use both the limbs.

Benefits of learning Taekwondo

The person who learns this martial art will also be a person who will have a lot of discipline and also confidence. The discipline comes because of the fact that all kinds of martial arts involve the use of the mind. The person has to be able to meditate and bring the body to be controlled by the mind. This involves meditation and relaxation. Self confidence is also built in the person because the person will be able to be bold and will feel strong after the learning of Taekwondo.

Strength: The person will feel that he or she has a lot more strength after learning the martial art. The fact is that Taekwondo has a unique advantage and that is that this method of doing exercise causes the strengthening of the muscles in two ways. One is the aerobic method and the other is the anaerobic method. This makes sure that adequate exercise is got by the body. This increases the health of the person. The relaxation in the mind of the person who uses this method also gets a lot of energy and it feels as if the person has been rejuvenated. These are the advantages that a person using Taekwondo will get!
