Prostate cancer is one of the most common diseases that affects men. There are many men who are affected by this disease. In fact this is more common than even lung cancer. The key to the treatment of the prostate cancer is the identification of the disease. A person has to identify the disease as early as possible for the person to be able to get a relief from the treatment. So if you have been suffering from some of the signs that are listed here, then you would have to consult a physician.

Before the signs are dealt with, the person has to understand the various causes of the prostate cancer. Prostate cancer occurs in any person who is old. The age is a risk factor. As a person becomes older, there is a higher risk of the person being affected by the disease. There are many people who are affected by the disease after they have become 60 or more.

Other than the age, the heredity is a reason for the disease to affect men. If there is a family history of prostate cancer or even any other kind of cancer, then the risk of the person being affected by the disease will increase.

The level of testosterone in the body is another cause of the prostate cancer to occur. There are men who have high levels of this hormone and in these people, there is a high risk of the rapid spread of the disease. There are some men who have low levels of this hormone and in them the disease does not spread so rapidly.

There are also many other causes of the prostate cancer and these include things like the lifestyle of the person. Any person who is used to smoking or eating food that is not good for the health will also commonly suffer from prostate cancer. These are the common reasons for the prostate cancer to occur.

Symptoms of prostate cancer

There are various kinds of symptoms that appear in a person who is suffering from prostate cancer. Some of the people who suffer from the disease will have some blood in the urine. This is because the tumour causes some of the structures to be damaged. This causes a lot of bleeding at times. There are other times when the person has erectile dysfunction. The reason for this to occur is that the tumour is large in size and can compress the nerve that is causing the muscles of the penis to function. When the nerve compression by the tumour causes the muscles to become paralysed, the erectile dysfunction occurs. This is another sign of the disease. Frequency of urination and decreased urine output are also some of the other common signs that will signify the presence of the prostate cancer.

Diagnosis of prostate cancer

The diagnosis of the prostate cancer is very important. The reason is that the person who is suffering from this disease will have a lot of complications if the disease is not diagnosed early enough. It is very important that the early diagnosis is done to prevent complications from occurring. The clinical examination is the first method that will help in the diagnosis of the disease. The confirmatory test includes those like the biopsy, ultrasound scanning and imaging.
