Tesla Model S also known as WhiteStar is an electric car manufactures by Tesla Motors and is expected to be in the market by early 2012. It will be a 4-door sedan with 160 miles mileage. This car is not only going to be a rival of other Evs, such as Fisker Karma, but also of other traditional cars like BMW 5-series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

According to the makers the frontal design of Tesla Model S is going to represent the future look of electric automobiles. The inside of the car is highlighted by a 17 inches touch screen. This highly customizable screen controls the radio, HAVC functions and navigation. It also provides 3G wireless internet and HD satellite radio facility. This Model S has more interior space than station wagons which is easily visible by the seating capacity of the car. The car can accommodate 5 adults along with optional rear-facing seats for two small children in the cargo area. The green theme of Model S has also maintained in Tesla Model S. For the interior chrome-free vegetable tanned Italian leather and 100 percent recycled carpeting has been used.
The car has a single speed transaxle gearbox by which it can haul down from 60 to 0 in just 135 feet. In spite of 3,825 pound curb weight and single speed transmission Model S will be able to sprint from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. It will be able to cross the quarter mile stripe in 14 second. The acceleration of Model S is also excellent. The highest speed of this car will be 195 kmh. The basic model will be able to run for 160 miles beginning from a fully charged state using a 42 KW-h battery pack. Users can drive longer by using a larger range battery pack which will be also available. The normal charging time of the 42 KW-h battery packs will be 3 to 5 hours but there will also be a 45-minute quick charge option.
The ultimate safety features of this car includes self leveling headlights, dual front side-mounted airbags, rear door child safety locks, child seat anchors, tire pressure monitoring, auto delay off headlamps, dusk sensing headlamps, engine immobilizer, emergency interior trunk release, front fog/driving lights and many more.
According to the tentative estimation the initial price of the standard model with a 160 mile (260 km) range will be $57,400. The price of the premium model with a greater range of 300 mile (480 km) will be $65,000.
