Lack of intimacy in marriages is very discouraging, and it ends in breaking up relationships. Many sexless couples end up in dilapidated marriages, which lead them to divorce. Sexless marriages without intimacy are no doubt very common. Around 18% of all the married couples have a sexless relationship. They usually have sex less then 10 times per year, which is a terrible statistics and results in high divorce rate. The main causes behind these sexless marriages are not always easy to find. Many people think that it is lack of physical attraction or dissatisfaction with each other. But, it is hard to believe because there are many couples, who even in their old age, are passionate about each other and admire each other on regular basis. This is very hard to understand as to why some people remain successful in keeping the spark in their married lives while others lose their sex drive very soon, which brings frustration in their lives. This is something very unhappy for both of you that you do not want to happen. • Complacency- Marriage is a bondage in which couples like being comfortable. They become very frank with each other, and sometimes, they become so much familiar that the desire for knowing the other decreases, and they start seeing each other just like other family members or housemates, instead of sexual partners. This over-frankness or familiarity leads to sexless marriages. • Body image concerns- There are so many men and women out there who have major body image problems, and they do not feel themselves as healthy as they were in the beginning of their relationship. They think that now they are old and unattractive. Many women especially think that they are no more sexy and are unable to drop their libido on anyone. This results in lack of attraction, appreciation and sexual desire for the partner. There are surely some cures to such sexless marriages as well: • Self-Respect- The sexless partners can help themselves by showing self-respect to each other. They should have confidence in their ownselves and in what they can do; this way, they can surely win the heart of their spouse or lover. Only if you start thinking about your emotions and get rid of the bad feelings about yourself can you become an attractive lover in the eyes of your partner. This can also help in many other aspects of your life. • Communication- Talking with your partner about the relationship at profound and personal level can solve the lack of intimacy in your marriage. Partners can solve many other problems by communicating to each other.
