The common phrase our ears are familiar within business environment is "the higher is the risk, the higher is profit". There is paramount level difference between theoretical stance and practical implications. We notice that every management and administration of profit motive organisation's prime objective is to keep motivating their employees by making them risk initiators. Particularly in the sales and marketing department employees are trained to be more risk takers but the interesting and surprising fact is that when there is a change of shift from employees to management and administration, there is sudden change of approach. Where employees are trained to be risk takers, the management and administration are more of risk calculators. There is obvious rational behind this deliberately planned actions as the general theory is scarcity of resources. Under the umbrella of this theory, management proposes idea of effective and efficient allocation of resources. There is no harm in being effective and efficient one but the opportunity cost is always associated with every single decision undertaken by the organisation. When organisation wants to recruit employees for job position, the special advice to HR department is "Hire employees with quality experience".

Every organisation wants to be more rational in decision making process and problem solving but is it fair to hire only employees who have quality experience? What about fresh employees? If business world suggest that profit is directly proportional to risk than why not taking risk in consideration when hiring employees for organisation. Fresh employees are also a type of risk than why not taking a risk with fresh employees? Because most of the organisations feel that fresh employees may have competency gap and they will need a proper training which will increase the cost. There is no denial from the fact that yes, fresh employees do need appropriate training and development as compare to experienced employees but then again who teaches larval fish to swim? Everyone learns when opportunities and right environment is provided. The environment is one of great masters to polish and develop skills and expertise. When employees are given the learning environment, they gradually master skills once they learn about prevailing organisational culture and grab working pattern.

The conclusions are never made on the basis of absoluteness but majority and minority is considered to reach to certain point. We can say that there will be employees who may take more time to adapt organisational culture and adjust in the dynamics of firm. Similarly, there are employees who are quick learners and have more flexibility to become accustomed to existing environment quickly. Therefore, we can say that there should be more flexibility in the approach of organisations. They should mix fresh employees and experience employees in teams for a maintained and balanced approach. Organisation should not consider employees as liability, but assets. It should train and groom fresh employees with their experienced employees so that employees have more affective and normative commitment towards organisation.

Fresh employees will gradually become experience employees if they are trusted with responsibilities and given a chance to prove their skills. The approach of every organisation should be under the model of ROI (return on investment) where the benefits/cost ratio is considered to calculate how much productive employees are after training program. Proper training sessions should be managed to make fresh employees familiar with working patterns. They should be trusted with their academic profile and given a chance to implement their theoretical knowledge in a practical manner under senior's guidance and evaluation system.

Organisation should initiate a risk by hiring fresh candidates but should also have a proper backup program in order to ensure that employees have high returns in shape of increase productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness when investments (training and development) is given. The mutual cooperation of seniors at workplace and administration should design a system through which fresh employees are groomed to be risk takers not risk by themselves. The experiences are vital but those experiences must be transferred to others for the success of organisation. I would sum up with this, "time and space is the best way, give time and space to others to prove their abilities".

After reading this article i have come to know that how much fresh employees like me suffer from such things. our organizations should invest to fresh candidates, to boost up their confidence and make them believe in themselves. Ahsan Waqar 2013-05-09 02:21:05 1775
Impressive and interesting analysis Nasreen Zehra 2013-05-09 03:13:20 1777
it is true, what we are suffering from. Organizations should think about it, the staff that running the organization are more experienced but they themselves got that experience when they started working so, why they don't even think about us ? and forgot their time? I agree with the underlying statement i.e. fresh graduates need jobs and that they must be trusted with positions in which relative experience is required; but i think the article fails to analyse that most of the corporations eventually hire new employees. in fact they have to, this is because even the relatively experienced employees must have started off newly as well and that once these employees move on to other corporations or higher posts, newer employees are hired to replenish the posts left vacant and eventually more people get hired. As for higher posts, one simply cannot hand it over to an inexperienced graduate, that in simple terms will not just be a mere "risk" but rather calculated stupidity. these jobs require experience; what pakistan needs is an economic expansion, more corporations which would eventually lead to greater job creation. most of the companies in pakistan are saturated and can't take in more candidates for obvious reasons. I sympathise with the writer but i believe the argument is very banal. if there are more jobs, then there is nothing to stop from fresh graduates from getting them, not even lack of experience as it will be a necessity. asad shirazi 2013-05-11 04:30:58 1782
I'm sorry, I totally disagree with Shirazi'z comment, I feel a prejudice done. without reading article personal frustration taken out. Ahsan Waqar 2013-05-11 12:29:09 1783
How much experience are you Mr.Asad? On what grounds you say that author has said to give inexperience a charge, article says groom them under umbrella of experience staff. Hafsa Waqar 2013-05-11 12:33:35 1784
Only those who have been victim of organizational politics can understand this article, bye typing article in return of articles is not enough, get real Mr.Shirazi. Yasir Ahmed 2013-05-11 12:36:40 1785
Now I want to promote article more because people like you who reach to top forget that you were one fresh employee. Yasir Ahmed 2013-05-11 12:51:30 1786
Dear Asad Shirazi! Please read again article, havn't you undrstood the view point of author? You call it mere stupidity? Then your long comment apear like mere jealousy. Ramsa Kodvavi 2013-05-11 12:59:22 1787
Well i certainly agree with the crux of this article, giving chance to a fresher doesn't mean settling them on higher post right in the first go, but to give them a chance to excel their expertise which, to some extent, comes with an experience but not necessarily because inner capabilities of a candidate do have a value. if experience was everything, then organizations with the most experienced personnel wouldn't have faced failures. young graduates are more passionate towards their goals then an experienced one who are more likely to go for a turtle run. Purging an experienced personnel is not recommended but not selecting new fresh candidate isn't a right decision either. Sh. M. Sikandar 2013-05-11 13:55:59 1788
Wake up sherazi, Read article twice' Asad Ayaz Ansari 2013-05-11 14:08:11 1789

As one of my friend consistently mentioned EXPERIENCE, if experience was everything, Gates and Zuckerberg wud have introduced microsoft and facebook at the age of 60 when they have earned lot much experience though. what i perceive form this article is the need to groom young blood, by certainly not making them a head of an org, but to give them a chance instead. land-lord 2013-05-11 14:37:24 1795

I'm totally inspired from this article,, obviously when a proper place is not given to fresh employees then how they'll become experienced.? When the experienced people started their career they were all unexperienced, why they forgot their time and don't give a chance to fresh employees...? Mr. Asad Sherazi read this article again carefully. You don't have the ability to write impressive articles like this. So please don't be jealous. Ok. Laiba Usmani 2013-05-13 04:21:44 1798
