Ford Ikon is a fashionable sedan which runs with sophistication. This car is manufactured by Ford Motor Company and has been assembling in Chennai, India to be sold there from 2008. Until December 2006 it used to be manufactured in South Africa, Mexico and China. It is a 4 door sedan with a FF layout of Ford B3 platform. Safety features All of the standard safety features are available in Ford Ikon which includes Dynamic safety Engineers, childproof rear locks, laminated glazed screen, front and rear side seat belts, front and rear side impact door beams, center high mount stop lamp, remote keyless entry anti-theft system and central locking electric fuel cap release. It also has crumple zones and the latest in occupant resistant systems. The variants Ford India launched the Ford Ikon in India with both of the fuel (petrol and diesel) compatible engines. The 1.3L in-line4, 69 bhp petrol engine produces torque of 105 Nm @ 2,500 rpm and 1.4L I-4 TDci, 67 bhp diesel engine with DuraTorq. In both options, a 5- speed manual transmission is mater with the engine. Ford Ikon offers six variant models to the purchasers. They are 1.3 LXi, 1.3 Flair, 1.6 EXi, 1.6 ZXi, 1.8 EXi and 1.8 ZXi. All of these models are available in the market within the range of Rs 4.9 lakhs to Rs 5.5 lakhs. In short it can be said that this car proffers consistency and superior handling in an affordable price range. All of these modern and standard features make this car completely ready for competing with its contemporary competitors like Renault Logan and Maruti Suzuki Dezire.
