When we say that we don't have time, it only says that we are unable to finish our work in time. We are ourselves to blame for not managing time properly. The fact is, if we take care of seconds and minutes, the hours will take care of themselves. Therefore, Management of time can be defined as organizing the time at our disposal in the best possible way to strike the right chord between our physical, social, emotional, intellectual and recreational activities. While there is no short cut for management of time, it can be explored on three basic principles: Realize the value of time: Time is extremely precious and unidirectional. It will not be regained if it is lost once. Therefore time has to be valued as a limited and short-lived resource. Plan your time effectively and Master the art of time management: 1. Budgeting of time 2. Priorities of work 3. Time slots for different activities - Minimum and Maximum time should be fixed within the 24 hours 4. Planning and preparing a daily schedule 5. Maintaining regularity 6. Deadline has to be set for each work Also some break and relaxation should be taken into consideration to meet the schedule. It is also very essential to complete the assignments and projects well in time to avoid unwanted tension. Do not wait for last minute to finish the assigned job. Focus on the task at hand: It is also very important to be focused and unidirectional to finish the job in time. One must not deviate from the present and think about the future. To master the art of time management we need to take some important steps, which are as follows. We have to create an environment that is favorable to our job. The best environment is one where we feel motivated and reasonably comfortable to finish our job. But it does not mean that we will never get unfriendly situation at all. We have to think about favourable or unfavourable situations at our disposal and make them friendly. Another very effective way to manage our time is to make a list of anything that comes to our mind. It only helps to arrange those bits of information whenever we need them. This cuts down our tension to finish our work in time. Also avoid unnecessary time wasters like indiscipline, idling, procrastinating, etc. There are only 24 HOURS in a day. Instead of aiming to try out large number of activities without any result, it's better to concentrate on a few select interests to perfection. In short, time must be utilized with utmost care and no work is left undone for the next moment if it can be achieved at this moment. This is the essence of time management. Time management is a science and an art that we can cultivate through careful practice.
