Americans are raised to believe that the only way to succeed in life is to step on those around them in order to get what they want and what they are ultimately taught to assume they deserve. The only thing worthy of being is being the best, and the only way for such a rank to be achieved is living by the saying -screw the rest, I'm the best-.

We are taught to be ruthless, uncaring, selfish individuals; lead to believe that sympathy and sensitivity are the tools for failure, and arrogance and conceit the only acceptable means to success. So, unfortunately, this pattern of thinking has become the way of life. It is no longer possible for honesty to pay off; no, no, honesty is now the quickest road to devastation.

Honest people get stepped on by those intense competitors around them, and truthfulness considered a sign of weakness and incapability to accomplish ones goals. It is because of this new game of ruthlessness that men and women are no longer attracted to each other because of the feminine and masculine qualities each person posses; attraction has now become the object of challenge and competition. Men want women who can take care of them, and women want men who are successful and at the top of their game.

We are each secretly looking with a selfish eye for someone who can pick up our slack, thereby accomplishing the means of being taken care of while allowing ourselves to become lazy and disorganized. For me, the foremost qualities that attract me to a man are as follows: strength- both physically and mentally, courage-the will to do what is right through any circumstance, determination- the want to accomplish his goals and wants without fear of the work ahead of him, power- the ability to command any situation, dominance- the talent of being a natural born leader, and, finally, the right amount of compassion- I never like a man who is too sympathetic, but always a man who understands.

The qualities in myself that I hope a man will want and find in me are as follows: strength- I keep my body strong, my mind stronger, and my will iron thick, passion- I do what I love and put care into all aspects of my life, determination- I stop at nothing to accomplish my goals, organization- I fear laziness and do whatever is needed when it is needed, my straight forward and extremely blunt attitude- I do not like nonsense, and my constant yearn for education- I love learning above all else, and like to back up everything I say I believe in. Because I am also a competitive person, it is my belief that the only way a man will not allow me to be lazy is if he is strong willed himself. The competitive nature that has been instilled in me will keep me fighting against the laziness that is sure to want to consume me when I find the man great enough to tie me down, and will challenge me to finish what I have started when it comes to my own personal success. But it is my belief that we each are searching for that -significant other- who matches our lifestyles and way of thinking; whose personality traits compliment those traits in ourselves that we most admire.

Is it the competitive nature that is impounded into our minds that keeps us searching for what we believe to be our perfect match? And do we truly ever find what we are supposedly destined for, or is it the hard work and sacrifice we are willing to make that molds us into what will work for the other person to be satisfied?
