Writing articles helps to keep mind sharp - A great brain exercise.BY: Jessica | Category: Writing | Post Date: 2008-10-18
After we get out of school or college and start working or just become a home-maker, our learning curve suddenly seems to go down since we are constantly occupied only in our day-today activities. Sometimes we do watch news, follow current affairs and watch some interesting episodes on discovery channel but other than that our mind kind of shuts off. We sometimes start to feel that our brain which was like a sponge during student life, was able to absorb all sort of academic syllabus and other tricky tasks. After just a few years out of college many of us start to feel as if our learning power and vocabulary has started to decrease. The fact is our brain needs real exercise and needs to be exposed to different topics to maintain its sponge-absorbent power.
How does writing articles assists to maintain a sharp mind?
When I write articles, not only I learn new things because I have to hunt information on a topic (on web/library), but it also help me to improve my vocabulary and spelling skills. Obviously this is a great exercise for the brain. I don't know if it's scientifically true that writing articles improves mind power or helps to keep brain more active, but in my case it has worked well. Frankly, I love writing articles and feel that it is also the best form of expression these days.
Writing articles may not improve your mathematical skills but depending on the topic you select, it may help your brain to be exposed to several topics on science, environment, medical and other general knowledge boosting articles. Additionally if you are able earn some amount from your articles, its a great motivation. You should never force yourself into writing articles, some people can easily write 2 articles a day easily, while others may only have the mindset to write one article in every 2-3 days. This is because each one is different and depending on our schedule, we can only write only certain amount of content. Additionally, some people prefer writing multiple short articles and others prefer to write just few but long articles. Writing articles is not a difficult work, but writing good articles everyday is not easy. You need a good focus and dedication of mind.
Reason I publish articles on this site:
I have tried creating my own blog in past but never got web traffic, but here a few hundred people read my articles within months. I started writing on this website mainly because they usually publish good articles and filter out people writing articles just to get a backlink for their website or blog. Additionally they also make minor changes to my articles like bolding important information or modification to title and description for keyword optimization. That's a pretty good free personal service. An author on this website with Nic name "Chitracs" is a born author and is able to write so many nice articles very consistently, I do not know her but like to read often on what she writes. I overall like the work of most authors here.
Ever since I started writing on the internet I feel passionate about myself, it has increased my self-confidence and instead of thinking crap I am able to focus on a topic of my interest and get my brain a daily dosage of useful and interesting content. As I said earlier, to keep your mind sharp, the best way is to use it and writing articles is one of the best way I have discovered.
