No doubt that Indian cricket team achieved many victories. But the performance of Indian cricket team has not been consistent compared to the teams like Australia, South Africa, England, West Indies etc. For this reason Indian cricket team is rarely found in a good position / ranking. Indian cricket team is not able to maintain the constant performance because of the following reasons. 1. Senior players of Indian cricket team fail to maintain their performance constantly due to the lack of practice, or due to negligence. Their explanation for being in the team is solely based on their past performance and often play to make more records in their name. But senior players of the teams like Australia, South Africa etc, consistently perform better. They are selected based on current performance and not their past performance. 2. Indian cricket team is experimenting too much with the new and inexperienced players, because of the poor form of the experienced players. These new players are under too much pressure and often fail to perform well. 3. The captain himself is often confused about the talent of new players. He is often involved in politics with coach and national criclet board. 4. If the starting batsmen fail to build good scores, the remaining batsmen go under pressure and wickets fall like dry leaves. It seems that the attitude, confidence and guidance lack in the Indian cricket team. 5. If the batsmen fail to build good scores, bowlers and fielders go under stress too and they buckle to the opponent team. 6. Indian cricket team found to have the tendency of losing the confidence when the star players fail to perform well. If a good bowler gives more runs the same trend continues with other bowlers as well. If a good batsman fails to perform badly, the same trend continues with other batsmen. 7. In domestic cricket, there are not enough one day matches played. So team does not gain experience in domestic cricket. If we can overcome these things, Indian cricket team would be able to keep a consistent performance in international cricket matches.
