Lets all accept that the current recession has been centered around the corporate greed and reckless standards of lending/borrowing money, especially the mortgage loans. This crisis initially started in United States and then similar copycat practices spread all over the world and has now resulted in global recession.

The million dollar question is - When will this recession end?
Wish I precisely knew this answer, but all I can say is that there is no clear end in sight. There should be significant recovery in year 2010 and beyond. Asian economies like India, China, Malaysia and Singapore will likely emerge as major players after all this starts to become normal.

Recession has changed life of millions of people. I live in Michigan State (United States) and our state has been hit most severely. Primary job loses have been in industries related to Automotive manufacturing.

Obama administration is working hard, but unfortunately it has been benefiting only those people who have taken bad decisions in the past. People like me, who have been responsible and lived within our means have been the net losers.

Although the recession in United States will end in a couple of years, the massive debt that US will have will likely devaluate dollar and calls for alternative world currency have already started.

People who have seen their money disappearing in the retirement accounts and overall stock market should not lose patience, in fact this is the best time to invest (I think). I never suggest people to invest in individual stocks because it can be too risky. I like low cost balanced mutual funds.
