Anemia is a very common problem in many categories of people. It is common in women because of the frequent loss of blood. It is very common in many developing and under developed countries because of the lack of adequate nutrition. There are many simple methods of preventing and also treating the anemia.

Anemia usually refers to the lack of hemoglobin in the body. The main function of hemoglobin is to transport oxygen from one part of the body to another. So when there is a lack of hemoglobin in the blood, it causes the decreased oxygen supply to the various organs of the body. This in turn leads to various systemic problems. Sometimes anemia can lead to problems that can be fatal. Adequate and appropriate treatment is very important in those suffering from anemia.

A person suffering from anemia can have some common symptoms like palpitation, paleness in the face and conjunctiva. The person can also have shortness of breath. head aches, tiredness and other related symptoms. Some people can have some sores in the gums and also in the throat. Brittle nails are also a common symptom of anemia.

All the home remedies listed in this article are just an addition to the regular treatment that is provided by the medical practitioners. The home remedies are not a replacement for the medical treatment that is necessary for those suffering from anemia. The various home remedies to increase the hemoglobin in the blood are:

1. Spinach:


Spinach is one of the best natural foods that is available and can be a natural remedy for anemia. Spinach has been made famous by the cartoon character Popeye. Spinach is virtually full of folic acid and also iron which are the most important things to prevent and treat anemia.

2. Green leafy vegetables:

Virtually all the green leafy vegetables are similar to the spinach in providing a lot of iron and folic acid. These prevent the complications of anemia from occurring. The vegetarian foods that contain all essential elements and minerals prevent anemia from occurring.

3. Beetroot:

This is another effective vegetable that combats and prevents anemia. The iron that is present in beetroot helps to reduce the severity of anemia.

4. Dates and honey:

Date fruits are also very rich in anemia. People who consume a small portion of date syrup or eat the fruit can be protected against the complications of anemia. Honey is another important natural food that provides enough iron to prevent and treat anemia. A mixture of honey and dates as a syrup is consumed to counter anemia in many parts of the world.

5. Liver:
Liver is one of the richest sources of iron and counters anemia. Of all the animal livers, beef liver is considered to be the best source of iron and helps to prevent anemia.

These are the various important natural remedies that can help to treat anemia. Addition of these supplements to the medications that are provided will help to keep the person safe and prevent complications that can arise from anemia.
