Migraine is severe pain in the head that is due to various causes. There can also be many associated symptoms with migraine. Migraine is a common condition that is seen in many people around the world. Prevention of migraines is possible with proper care. Migraine is usually considered to be pain in one or both sides of the head that can last anywhere from one to three days. There are many phases that can occur in a migraine. The migraine can increase when there is increased physical activity. The pain in the head usually starts on one side, and gradually spreads to the entire head as the headache progresses. The common symptoms that are associated with migraine are 1. Decreased appetite: People who have migraine usually have an associated decrease in the appetite. This can be directly related to the severity of the pain. It can also be because of the changes in the body of the person that is caused by the migraine. 2. Nausea and vomiting: Nausea and vomiting are some of the other common symptoms that are associated with migraine. A person who has migraine can be having increased activity in the brain that can cause nausea and vomiting. 3. Other symptoms: The various other symptoms that are associated commonly with migraine are Photophobia, sound and smell sensitivity, tiredness, pulsatinf veins, paleness in the face, and a person can also find it difficult to concentrate. Types of migraine: There are also different types of migraine that include the classic type, common migraine, rebound migraine, ocular migraine and various other types. These types are actually based on the symptoms that are present in the migraine and are also based on the duration of head ache. They are also based on the area where the pain is present. Treatment of migraine: The treatment options available for migraine are also varied. They include pain medications that can help to control the pain in the head of the person. There are also medications that help the migraine indirectly by reducing the stress levels of the person. Other options to treat migraine include aramatotherapy, acupuncture, acupressure, meditation, and chiropractic joint manipulation. These varied treatment options are tried out by various people with some success. It is always better to consult the physician treating you and obtain advice before trying out these options. Each of the treatments mentioned have their own merits and limitations. Prevention of migraine: As important as the treatment is for migraine sufferers, it is also very important to concentrate on the prevention of migraine. The focus should be to reduce the severity of the migraine or better still would be to try and control it just when the symptoms start. This is easier said than done, but there are some ways in which this can be done. Modifications in the diet, lifestyle and avoiding triggers like a particular kind of weather and stress are some of the means of preventing the occurrence of migraine.
