Hiccups are a very common condition and there are a few people who are more likely to get hiccups. One should understand the reason for the hiccups because there are many causes and one needs to understand the usual causes. This is because if one is able to identify the cause, then they will be able to manage it adequately.

The most common reason for people getting hiccups is the spasm or contraction of the diaphragm. The diaphragm is the muscular organ that is present between the respiratory organs and the stomach. This diaphragm also plays a major role in the breathing of the person. This is because when a person breathes in, the diaphragm moves and this movement can trigger the hiccups.


There are various other causes of hiccups. Fear could be one of the causes of hiccups in people. There are many people who get hiccups when they are startled. This is also true about the cure of the problem. When a person has hiccups, startling the individual can help in reducing or completely curing the person of the hiccups. The other common cause of hiccups is the type of food that the person eats. A person who is used to eating food that is very spicy can cause the individual to have hiccups. This has been seen in many people and even document .d.

Alcohol consumption:

Another common cause of hiccups is drinking alcohol. When an individual drinks alcohol, it stimulates the hiccups in the person. Though the exact reason and mechanism in which the alcohol consumption causes the hiccups is not known, it is known that hiccups can cause a person to have hiccups. Another reason for many people to have hiccups is the fact that they eat too quickly. This is a common cause of the

Treatment for hiccups:

There is no single treatment that has been found to be the best or the most effective. There are various treatments for hiccups available, but each one may work in one person but may not work in another person. This is the reason for the cropping up of many treatments for this condition.

One of the treatments that is considered to be safe and also effective is the drinking of water. People drink the water so that they have a lesser need for the sudden expiration of air that is caused when one has a hiccup. Another treatment method for a person to control the hiccup is to gulp air. This is very similar to drinking water because in this instance, one is gulping air instead of water.

Another method that is usually used in the control of hiccups is the bag breathing method where one breathes into a bag that has no ventilation. This causes the person to breathe the stale air again and again and so this is not really recommended. Another method that is used to control the hiccups is to startle a person. Though this works sometimes, people may not appreciate being startled. These are the various methods of treating a person with hiccups.
