What are the methods of throwing up (vomiting).

Throwing up is the last thing any person would like to do, but there are times when this either becomes a necessity or it becomes a way of life. Throwing up becomes a necessity when a person has consumed a poison or any other substance that needs to be brought out. Many people either knowingly or unknowingly eat or ingest some substances that is not good for their body and may need to throw it up. Many other people usually have throwing up as a way of life if they have a psychological disease where they eat a lot and then to decrease the food from getting absorbed into the body, throw it all up.

Whatever the reasons for throwing up, it is better for each and every person to be able to know the methods of throwing up as it might come in handy when in an emergency situation. These methods are listed below.

1. Use your finger to gag:

This is the most common method used by many people around the world. This is also because of the simplicity in throwing up when you use your finger to stimulate your throat. The person who wants to throw up should just insert the finger into the mouth and push as far as possible. There will be point where the gag reflex is stimulated and this will cause whatever was inside the stomach to be thrown up.

2. Medications:

The medications that are used to throw up are called as emetics and they are used in medical emergencies, especially when a person has consumed some kind of food that can be poisonous or can cause damage to the stomach. These medications will cause everything that is present in the stomach to be brought out.

3. Drinking Alcohol:

Alcohol drinking can cause a person to throw up too, but it usually does not happen immediately. This is also not under the person's control, so this kind of method should be avoided as much as possible as a means of throwing up. When a person drinks a lot of alcohol, it causes the person to feel the need to throw up and this kind of throwing up is called as projectile vomiting. A person may throw up when certain strong doses of alcohol are taken or if the amount of alcohol consumed is more. This method is not recommended.

4. Eating a lot:

This is a method of throwing up that is followed by people who want to control their weight and at the same time eat their food. The person who likes the food eats a large quantity of food and then the food itself can act as a cause of the person to throw up because of the large quantity consumed. This can also be used by people who are in depression, stress or have some psychological problems.

These are some of the various methods that are used by people to throw up. It should be remembered that unless it is absolutely necessary, the person should not try to throw up as some people can choke on their vomit. It can also cause various other problems like dehydration that can occur when a person throws up.
