What is Genetic Cloning Cloning means reproduction of a similar organism genetically. The normal reproduction process is bypassed and the cells are reproduced in some other way. Is it necessary to try this process on animals and human? The research on animal cloning is being done by some scientists. Some scientists say that cloning is one of the methods to try to save the dying species. What about cloning humans? Is it possible and is it necessary? Some scientists are repeatedly doing experiments to try cloning on all mammalian species. When the experiment is successful with cattle and sheep, scientists want to help the society, by putting their efforts in the medical field to help the human cloning of some organs. Some people feel that the human cloning as a whole is impossible as the human cells are not capable of being cloned. Some people totally oppose the concept of human cloning. In some countries, even the experiments are banned. They feel that the all the experiments done on animals need not be tried on human beings. Positive view on cloning humans: By reprogramming the nerve cell nucleus, the worn out ones can be replaced by new ones which may be helpful to Alzheimer and Parkinson patients as there won't be any growth in human after certain age. It is in the experimental stage and research is still going on. If there is any use to mankind in the medical field, then only permission for cloning of a particular organ will be granted. By preserving embryonic clone of some person, same embryo can be developed and used as a spare organ, when a transplant is required afterwards, as the body naturally accepts parts of the same person. Negative views on human cloning: Some people do not like to compete with the acts of God, of production. Every person is unique and there is no necessity for repetition. The human life should not be treated just like commodity. The cloned child will not get proper environment for living and all the time treated in different way. There is a risk when the experiment is performed and no one need to suffer. There is a doubt whether the functions of cell produced by cloning behave in the same manner as fertilized egg. The people who seek eternal life may like to live forever but is it possible? Even though controversies exist regarding cloning, some scientists continue their research and many scientists and public oppose the concept of cloning of human.
