Ginger is one of the best foods that man has ever known. It helps to cure many kinds of diseases and is also able to keep a person healthy. There are so many health benefits that are related to Ginger. Ginger is part of ancient Chinese and Tibetan medicine. It has been used in traditional families of these countries where hospitals and health care was not easily accessible. Ginger is also a part of Indian medicine called Ayurveda. It has been used in this medicine to cure many diseases.

The use of ginger in treating and curing various diseases is due to its spicy taste that is caused by the volatile oils that contain chemicals like gingerols and shogaols in it. These help to give the medicinal properties that are present in Ginger.

The various health benefits of Ginger are listed below

1. Common cold: Ginger is one of the best treatments for cold. It can be made into a health drink by slicing pieces of ginger and boiling it in water. Then to this, a spoon of lemon juice and honey are added. This helps to relieve a cold. This is also used in traditional Indian medicine that considers that ginger is a hot food that helps in treating cold and associated problems like running nose.

2. Stomach ailments: Ginger is the best food that can be used to help the stomach to settle down after a stomach upset. A health drink made as told above will help to relieve the stomach problems. Many people are utilizing this health benefit already.

3. Motion sickness: Ginger has been used by thousands of families around the world to relieve motion sickness. Many people have nausea while traveling either long or short distances by car or any other vehicle. Eating a piece of Ginger or just having a drink with ginger in it will help to relieve the symptoms of nausea.

4. Sea sickness: The same properties of ginger used in motion sickness can be used in people who are suffering from sea sickness. This helps people who feel giddy or nauseated.

5. Cancer: Ginger has another important health benefit that is yet to be used to its maximum potential. Ginger has anti cancerous properties. More research needs to be done though on the mechanism of preventing and treating cancer with ginger health drinks. It has been found in a few preliminary studied that were done that Ginger helps to reduce the risk of getting cancer. It has also been found to reduce the size of the tumor.

6. Head aches: Ginger preparations have also been found to reduce the head aches that are present.

7. Dry ginger: Another health benefit of Ginger is that it can be used in its fresh form for regular use to treat various conditions. Dry ginger can also be powdered and used by boiling it in water. Then the drink is strained to take off all the bulk. This drink can be used regularly once a day. This drink helps to relieve gastritis. It also prevents and reduces the occurrence of heartburn also called as acidity.
