Twenty-Twenty matches have brought good popularity for cricket. When cricket had started in the form of Test matches, not many people had the interest to see a game for five days. Many a times we could not get the result even after the full play of five days of cricket! In this fast moving world where people do not find the sufficient time to do important things, there is no point in watching a game for few days, where there is no guarantee of even getting the result. There is a saying -Winning or losing a common thing in a game-. But it is not true as far as the test matches are concerned. So lets see a brief history of cricket. In the year 1975, the "One day" matches were introduced. At that time, one day matches were of 60 overs each. That used to take whole day. In case of any disturbances like rain fall happens for sometimes, there was no chance of conducting the match. In the beginning of cricket, even an over was consisting of 8 balls. Later the number balls per over was reduced to 6 and number of overs for a One Day International matches were set at 50. One day matches were become more popular than test matches. There can be the guaranteed results except few rare cases. But still people were not watching the match. Many people start watching the matches at the second half, when the other team is batting to chase the target. So there was the requirement of having a rapid match still shorter duration. In test matches and ODI, there was not much scope play the offensive play, because of long duration of batting required. But when Twenty-Twenty the cricket was introduced in 2007, it brought its real beauty of rapid and offensive play. The crowd can see the fours and sixes flying across the ground throughout a Twenty-Twenty match. Since there are eleven batsmen to play in twenty overs duration, each batsman plays rapid cricket. It brings a lot of excitement to the viewers. Match gets finished in three to four hours. So, Twenty-Twenty match has become like a watching an action movie for three to four hours.
