I always wondered how people dressed on Tunisian beaches. Being the Island Walker and living in Djerba, a small island off the coast of Tunisia, I have firsthand experience. It is summer here now and many flock to cooler places like the satisfying Mediterranean waters. There was an attempt to divide Djerba in two. A section for the tourists, called the Zone Touristique and the rest for local inhabitants, businesses, government and others foreigners.

The greater part of the island is rather traditional with women covered from head to toe. The younger dare to expose some shape and flesh, fashionable, yet, as my mother would say, decent. Tunisian goes to the beach too and as my local friend said to me at the beginning of June, ‘when you see an Arab in the water, summer is here'. Some local ladies swim with several layers while others wear a fair amount of covering. Not a lot of flesh is shown, but people still have a lot of fun in the provisions of nature. Embarrassment is avoided.

Walk with me a few minutes into the Zone Touristique for a different scene. Here you see umbrellas, local and imported, deck chairs, colorful beach towels, water toys, shades and sun-block cream. At first you might pretend not to see, but unless you close your eyes, you have to behold. Women young and old, firm and not so draw eyes to their topless bosoms. -Am I in Tunisia?- You will observe that there are some local men on the beach taking in the sights, but no local women or children. This part of the island is for tourists. My company is called ExperienceIT and you really can. We provide tour solutions; did this information solve your problem?
