Migraine is a painful condition that is very common in people of all ages. Migraine can be present in adolescents and also old people. Most of the migraine that is present is stress related. Many people ignore the early signs of a migraine thinking that it is just a head ache. The lack of treatment and lack of prevention of the migraine can make it a chronic condition. There are many simple methods that will help to prevent the migraine. Preventing the migraine from occurring I better then treating the migraine after it has occurred. This article lists the various important but simple methods of preventing attacks of migraine from occurring. 1. Meditation: Meditation is one of the best methods that have been found to be effective in preventing migraine. Meditation is a method by which the person tries to concentrate and get the mind control the body. The concentration powers of the person increases and the person is able to focus better. It also helps to gain control of one's body to a certain extent. This is the method in which the meditation helps to prevent migraine. 2. Reduce stress: Stress is the single most important cause of migraine. There may be other causes of migraine too, but when compared to stress, they all are very insignificant. Reduction of stress is one method of preventing migraine attacks. Stress relieving medications can be used. Other methods of relieving stress are to do deep breathing exercises and relaxation exercises. These are some of the simple and effective methods of relieving stress. 3. Relaxation exercises: There are many relaxation exercises that can be practiced to relieve stress and in turn reduce the risk of a migraine attack. Some of the relaxation exercises include deep breathing exercises, individual muscle relaxation and relaxed posture maintenance. In deep breathing exercise, the person takes in a deep breath and then exhales slowly through the mouth. This process helps to relax the person and also helps to supply increased amount of oxygen to the various parts of the body. In individual muscle relaxation, the person tightens each muscle and then relaxes the muscle. This makes a conscious relaxation of the muscle possible. The person who is at a risk of suffering from migraine can also maintain various postures that are relaxing. These are the different relaxation methods that can help to prevent migraine. 4. Migraine trigger control: Most of the migraines that occur are due to a trigger that causes the pain associated with migraine. These triggers may vary from person to person. The most common triggers may be some kind of sensory stimulation or visual perceptions and various other factors. Once this trigger has been identified, the person has to try to control the exposure to these triggers. This is one of the important methods of controlling the migraine. The control of the trigger can be done with lifestyle modifications and also by seeking professional help so that the number of migraine attacks decrease slowly and then ultimately stop. These are the most simple but effective methods of decreasing and preventing attacks of migraine.
