The various events during and after a Heart Attack

Heart attack is a word that is scary in itself. This is because of the various implications it can cause in the life of the person. The person who has suffered from a heart attack learns the importance of living each day to the maximum. They learn about the fickleness of life. People who have suffered a heart attack also learn that their life is not in their hands. Heart attack is not just scary for the person, but is also a traumatizing event for the whole family. This is because of the psychological pressures on them too.

During a heart attack:

A person has pain in the chest and also discomfort which are the first signs of something wrong. The person may immediately be able to get to a hospital where the diagnosis is done with various tests. Once it has been diagnosed as a heart attack, adequate treatment is provided in an emergency to make sure that the person does not deteriorate. There are many instances of people dying even after getting to a hospital. this is because of the complications that occur because of the block in the heart. A block in the heart can occur if the blood that is supplied to the heart is not proper. This can be due to the atherosclerotic plaques that can form in the coronary arteries.

The person may have a surgery to get the block cleared or they might have medications to clear the blocks. After the acute phase is over, the person is kept under observation and when there are no signs of further complications, the person is discharged.

After a heart attack:

1. Depression:

There are many people who go into a state of shock and depression when they suffer from a heart attack. This is because they cannot imagine that they have suffered a near fatal problem in their life. This makes them to get into a shell and keep to themselves. Counseling will help these people.

2. Fear of death:

The person who has been affected by a hearty attack has a fear of death after the episode that prevents the person from participating in the various social and family activities. This fear can also be relieved by adequate health education and also counseling.

3. Stress:

There can be an increase in the stress of the person because of the attack. The person may have more concern about the health.

4. Care for the self:

Some people who have been affected by a heart attack take more care of themselves after the episode of an attack. This makes them to be heathier. This is a positive response by the person to the disease.

5. Family support:

The person also has more family support after the attack and more care and concern is given to the person who has had an attack.

6. Diet modifications:

A person who has suffered from a heart attack usually modifies the diet because it is very important to prevent further damage to the hearty. A healthy balanced diet is aimed at and consumed by the individual.

These are the various events that usually occur after a person suffers a heart attack.
