The use of Yoga in health and healing

Our bodies are influenced by nature. The body is important because, health is wealth. If a person is sometimes sick, then there is no peace in the family and social life also becomes non existent. Yoga keeps the body healthy by various asanas. The most important and natural method of keeping the body healthy is by doing yoga.

In ancient India, all the spiritual people used to practice yoga. They were supposed to be healthy and blessed with longevity. It is good for everyone to learn yoga because of the health benefits of practicing yoga. The main objective of yoga is to keep the body under the control of the mind. There is no restriction as to who will be able to do yoga. Every one can practice yoga.

Yoga helps in preventing various diseases like blood pressure, diabetes and other such conditions. The other uses of yoga are :

1. Mental health:
Yoga helps in increasing the concentration. It brings out the hidden power of the mind. Both the body and mind become strong as a result of yoga. The concentration used in doing the yoga keeps the mind refreshed.

2. Respiratory control: Yoga helps in control of breathing and improves the respiratory system. This helps in controlling and preventing a person from getting lung disorders. Some of the asanas require breath holding techniques which help to prolong the time air is kept in the lungs. This helps in expansion of the lungs.

3. Obesity: Regular practice of yoga helps to reduce the intake of food. It also gives regular exercise to the body and helps to reduce the fat deposits and helps in reducing obesity.

4. Flexibility: The person who is regularly practicing yoga is able to stretch and contract the muscles. This helps in giving an increased flexibility to the person. This in turn helps in reducing the chances of a person getting joint and muscular problems.

5. Diseases: The reduction in obesity and increased physical activity associated with yoga and the various asanas help in reducing the incidence of blood pressure and also diabetes. In those people who are already suffering from these conditions, the practice of yoga helps in decreasing the severity of these conditions. In some people who regularly practice yoga, these diseases completely disappear.

These are the many benefits of yoga on the health of a person. It helps to make a person healthy in both the mind and the body.
