Walking is the single most important exercise and is a solution to many health problems. This is because this type of exercise does not cost anything, but at the same time, it has many benefits for the person who is involved in this kind of activity and exercise. Regular walking will help to prevent many of the common diseases that occur as a person gets old. The walking will also help to reduce the intensity of various diseases that have affected a person. Thus this makes walking to be the best solution for a host of diseases.

Each person who wants to derive the benefits of walking should have a certain method that should be followed if the person wants to reap the benefits of walking. In fact following the methods described in this article for walking will help you to reap the benefits to the maximum.

1. Duration of walking:

Many people do not walk for a long time as they get tired soon. This may be acceptable when the person starts to walk in the initial few days, but as the person gets used to walking, the person should start walking longer distances and the duration of walking should increase considerably. A person should walk for at least one hour to reap the maximum benefits. Even walking more is better, but it can lead to fatigue and injury to the muscles and tissues.

2. Speed of walking:

The speed that is maintained by the person who is walking is also very important to reap the maximum benefits. A person who walks at about 3 miles per hour will lose about 272 calories. The person who walks for the same time, but at a speed that is more and is about 4.5 miles per hour will be able to lose about 356 calories. This makes one understand the importance of speed while walking.

3. The frequency of walking:

The frequency of walking is another bone of contention among people who walk for the sake of their health. These people think that walking for about 3 to 4 times a week is the best for their health. It should be understood that when a person walks for a longer period of time, the number of calories that are lost is much more.

This makes one to know that if a person walks each day of the week, then it is the best for the person as much more calories will be expended and the person will also have a decrease in the cholesterol levels and also the blood pressure. It will also help to keep the diabetes under control. Walking also helps the person to have good fitness and cardio vascular endurance.

These are the major issues that have to be kept in mind when a person walks for the good health. When a person walks slow and also has decreased frequency of walking, the walking will benefit them, but the benefit will be lesser than when the person walks for a longer distance and at a greater speed.
