Teaching is just informing or telling the person who may listen to information. We hear quite often that teaching the students does not stay with them. This means that the students forget what they have been taught. This can be confirmed with what Confucius a great Chinese philosopher said years ago that I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand. What he says is that unless a student does and understands, teaching is useless.

It is as if the students listen to the teaching, but are unable to retain any of the information passed on to them through the teaching. Simply teaching the child or student will never work because the student will not be able to comprehend all the information and store it in their mind in a limited time.

Recent developments in teaching methodology:

There are various methods of teaching that work better than just teaching the child. Some of the various recent advances in the methodology of teaching include the use of visual aids in teaching, using internet and other technology in teaching the child. The recent advances in the teaching methods also include practical work and reciprocal learning. These are just a few examples of the hundreds of the recent developments in the teaching methodology which have been helping teachers and students alike in their endeavors.

Practical learning:

Each of the many methods of learning have their own advantages. One of the best methods of learning is the practical method where the student does a project. A project can be done on various topics and subjects. The individual who does practical work will be able to achieve more and also learn more. The work that was done practically will also be retained by the student for a longer period of time than any other method of learning.

Many teachers have a lot of expertise in this field and have been using some of these things in their own houses too. This has made the teachers to fine tune each of these different methods of learning. There are many newer methods of teaching theories and teaching methods that are being used each day.

Learning by the teacher:

In fact one should understand that learning is an integral part of the teaching process and should be as wholesome as possible to benefit both the teacher and the student. Only when the new tools and technologies are included in your teaching strategy will you be able to become a better teacher. Once you become a better teacher, you will be able to help your child to improve his learning ability. There are many ‘old fashioned' teachers who do not want to change their teaching methods and they will surely fall by the wayside.

A teacher plays an important role in shaping the life of a child and in fact many great leaders have said that children are the future of the Earth. The teachers should remember this and make sure that the students are made to understand what they learn for the teaching as well as learning to be more effective.
