Meditation is a method of communing with nature for some. For others, it is a process of understanding one self. For most people though, meditation is a method in which they make the mind conquer the body. They are able to delve deep into their soul by concentrating very hard. There are many benefits of meditation. Some of the benefits of meditation are physical and most other benefits are spiritual.

The physical benefits of meditation are listed in this article. These benefits help to decrease the diseases in people. Meditation also helps to prevent various diseases from occurring. This article lists the various benefits of meditation.

1. Decreased heart rate:
Meditation is a process in which the individual is able to come to be at peace with the mind and the world. The peace that the person gets because of the meditation helps to decrease the heart rate of the person. When the heart rate decreases, the person has decreased flow of the blood in the arteries and this in turn will help to decrease the blood pressure of the individual. When the blood pressure decreases, the person has decreased risk of heart attacks. This all occurs when a person does meditation regularly.

2. Relaxation:
When a person meditates, there is a physical as well as mental relaxation. The person is in a state where they are very serene and also calm. This makes the muscles to relax. So relaxation is one of the health benefits of meditation.

3. Pain relief:
Meditation also helps to relieve many chronic and acute pains and aches. This is another of the health benefits that is got from meditating. When a person relaxes because of meditation, the muscles tend to relax. As the muscles relax, there is a decrease in any pains and aches that may have been present

4. Stress buster:
Other than relaxation of the body, meditation also causes relaxation of the mind. When the mind relaxes, a person is able to have a stress free living. Thus meditation is a natural and healthy method of reducing excessive stress levels. This is one of the reasons for many companies offering meditation as part of the relaxation program for all their employees. This helps the workers to be relaxed and also increases their productivity.

5. Sleeplessness:
Another health benefit of meditation is the relaxation of the mind that helps people to be more relaxed. This decreases insomnia or sleeplessness. Insomnia is a common result of stress. So meditation helps to relieve stress and also to treat insomnia.

6. Intelligence and concentration:
When a person is involved in meditating, they focus on a feeling of being apart from the troubles of this world. This makes them to be able to concentrate and focus on their studies and work. So meditation helps in increasing the intelligence of the person and also helps them to concentrate more on their studies or work.

These are the most common and very important health benefits of meditation.
