I still remember that as I was growing up, I always thought that people who start working and get married finally become "Grown-ups", and when someone becomes a "dad", he truly becomes an "Uncle Ji" (Kind of .. serious types with no more a casual and fun loving person). It was interesting how I got my first job, then my second, then got married and finally have a beautiful baby girl now. Today when I look back and think about my "Uncle Ji" approach, it kind of makes me laugh. Actually, there are tons of joys after one becomes a dad. Well, you will go through sleepless nights, changing diapers, doctor visits and baby crying. At the end of the day, it all depends on how you take it, you can do cribbing with your friends about it or simply enjoy it as is. I have taken the later approach.

It is interesting to see a child to grow from a stage where he/she cannot even lift his head, to gradually learning to roll over. Then one day you get a call from you wife telling that the toddler "just crawled" and few months later "just walked". It's interesting to see these things happening in front of your eyes and you start to imagine that this is probably what our parents must have gone through with us as we were growing up (may be they were not as crazy as our generation are with kids). You truly understand the bonding between parents and kids. Frankly you can never realize what kids mean to their parents until you have your own. It also helps to bring you closer to your own parents (who have been promoted to grand parents).

Having a child grow in front of you is interesting because you see all those things which happened to you once. Remember when you cleared that "boring subject" and thought you will never have to see it again in life, well now you will have to because your kid will need your help with it now. It will be interesting to answer kids all those basic questions which you thought that everyone knows. Once they grow up and pass through the teenage times, your biggest worry about the girls-boys stuff takes over and you are always trying to protect them and so on. My daughter is still quite tiny, I still have to go through several things mentioned above for the time being I am just thinking about other the joys of becoming a dad.

I have friends who are still single and plan to be that way, for them its all about dating and just spend all the money on their own with no responsibilities. It works perfectly when you are young, but as more and more girls settle in life, one is left dating with a limited selection of women. They hate kids and think that they are a pain. I think that they will regret later in life ( although I hope not).

My message goes to all the young dads, do not sweat a lot, just enjoy being a dad and when you become old, you will have someone of your own to talk to and possibly take care of you to a certain extent.
