Goji berries are one of the commonly consumed berries around the world. There are many health benefits related to these berries. This is because these berries are rich in various substances that help to treat and even cure certain diseases that are present. These Goji berries are similar to any other berry in their size. These small sized berries are found in a very few places in the world. Recently, because of their many health benefits, these berries are being cultivated around the world. Naturally, they are found mainly in the Himalayan Range especially in certain parts of India, Tibet, Nepal and China. This is because this climate which is present in this area is very conducive for the growth of these berries.

The Goji berries can be consumed as they are. The berry can also be consumed either in the juice form or in the fruit form. The root bark can also be consumed. All these have various health benefits.

Health benefits of Goji berries:

The health benefits of Goji berries are many. The most important health benefit is that the Goji berries have very powerful antioxidants in them. This is very important fact because these antioxidants have many health properties. They help to neutralize the free radicals that are present in the body. The free radicals are the ones that cause various tissue damage and diseases. The antioxidants cause them to lose their function.

Cancer: The presence of the antioxidants helps to prevent cancer and also reduce the severity of the disease. This is because the cell function is improved and tissue damage is decreased when one consumes Goji berries.

Diabetes: The Goji berries also help to decrease the severity of the Diabetes that a person has. This is because these berries help to decrease the sugar levels of the body and keep them under control.

Hypertension: The Goji berries also help to reduce the blood pressure of a person. In many people who have high blood pressure, the regular consumption of these Goji berries helps in maintaining the level of blood pressure and keep it under control.

Ageing: Goji berries are also found to be useful in preventing the ageing process. This is also because of the presence of the antioxidants in the body. These antioxidants prevent the tissues from getting damaged and also delay cell death. This makes the person look young and increases the life of a person.

The side effects of Goji berries:

A person who consumes these Goji berries regularly can also have certain side effects because of these fruits. In fact there are many people who have at least a little bit of side effects because of consuming Goji berries. The most common side effects are listed here.

Head ache: The person who consumes Goji berries regularly have side effects such as headache because of the decrease in the blood pressure. The decreased blood pressure usually occurs when the person consumes these Goji berries along with the medication to decrease the blood pressure.

Hypoglycemia: This condition can occur because these Goji berries help to reduce the sugar levels in the blood. When there is a decrease in the sugar levels, the person can get fainting spells.
