The choice of subjects in the education has always been a hard thing to decide. Students often get confused regarding which subject would be of maximum benefit for them further in their career. I feel that students are not very much aware about the scope of the subjects enough and that leads to all the confusion.

But what is the reason of all this confusion?
There is not enough awareness and guidance given by experts or teachers to the students. Students need to be given appropriate scope of subjects, level of difficulty and career prospects associated with each stream. Here are some tips about how to choose the right set of subjects after Higher Secondary School, according to the interest, talent and capability of a student.

1. If a student is good at calculations, mathematics, computers etc, and if he is interested in them, he or she can should select Science subjects with the combination like PCMB or PCMC.

2. If a student is interest in medicine (becoming a doctor), he or she can go for Science (Physics and Chemistry) including Biology as one subject. Mathematics may not be necessary in this case.

3. If a student is interested to pursue engineering fields like IT engineering, Electronics engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Civil engineering etc, he or she opt the science field with subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

4. If a student has interest in business field and if he is good at leadership and management qualities, he or she can go for Commerce by choosing the subjects like Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Statistics, Management, taxation, Law etc. Even a person who wants to go for accounting field like becoming a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant, Management Accountant or company secretary, he or she can choose Commerce.

5. If a student is interested to for the fields like Social service, Cultures, Journalism. Mass communications, Politics, linguistics, etc, he or she can go for Arts. Arts have been a default selection of a student who has scored less mark. But even Arts subjects can be the selection of the merited students. If a person can perform best at the Arts subjects, he/she can get a large scope in this field as well.

I hope these tips would help the students in choosing right subjects in their education.
