The Right Pair of Shoes - After my pain came my sweet success.BY: wenax | Category: Self Improvement | Post Date: 2008-10-12
I was jobless for eight months and I was so desperate to get any work. I decided to go to the city and stayed at my boyfriend's place. In the next morning, while getting ready for my work venture, I realized that I have forgotten to pack my black mid heels. I asked my boyfriend's mother if I could borrow her pair of loafers (shoes) and I was so grateful she let me. Also known as penny loafers, this pair of shoes was infamously worn by Michael Jackson, especially when he does the moonwalk. I fitted it and thought it was a little tight. But it was the most formal thing available in her shoe rack. And it was like a choice between the loafers and my sneakers. Its dark brown, fringed style matched my collared blouse, as it is same in color, and it also went well with my black slack pants. I looked at my self and thought I was ready. I went to a lot of institutions. But as I walked from one place to another, I felt a rising torment on my toes and ankles. I tried to ignore it, but the pain worsens each time I step. In several minutes, I am giving up, but the thought of getting a job was lurking on my mind. And so, I decided to submit my resume to one more institution and then I went home to my boyfriend's place. I was grimacing while climbing up the stairs to his room. And when I reached his bed, I took off the shoes and saw my pinkies, big toes and ankles blistered. I soaked my feet on cold water and felt so relieved. My feet's agony went on for several days. It was either flip flops or barefoot. And also, I was a little frustrated because I had no calls from all my applications. After a week and my blisters were almost healed, the most amazing thing happened. I finally got a call from an institution and asked me to come for an interview. Spine-tingling somehow that it was the LAST institution that I went to. In an instant I felt that every blister on my feet signified a hardship that is worth pursuing. I got the job and it has been a year and a half since I started working there. It never fails to bring me a smile whenever I remember that experience. After my pain came my sweet success.
