The Rainbow With No NameBY: wenax | Category: Others | Post Date: 2009-04-12
When I was a kid, during summer vacations, I used to have my piano lessons late afternoon at our old house. Right after those lessons, I would walk to our garden, sit at our old, rusty swing and just feel the rush of air on my face and hair. Everyday, I would imagine how beautiful it is to just fly freely in the sky. One day, around 3:30pm, I decided to wait for my piano teacher in the garden. It was unusual for me to go out at this time of the day because the sun still burns skin, especially in the tropics where I live. But something, or just a feel of it, made me go outside. I did what I usually do. I sat, swing my self, feel the breeze and finally looked up -- and there I saw the most colorful, beautiful, miraculous sky I have ever seen in my entire life--so far. It was a sky with SPILLED RAINBOW COLORS. Picture in your mind an arched rainbow, with it's definite shape is already glorious. Now try to imagine all the seven colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet spilled carelessly in the sky, just like heavenly paints formlessly flowing-- painting an abstract in the biggest, blue canvas. I clearly remember that the most dominant color was red, only, it looked to me like dark pink. The green, the orange and the yellow colors were all brilliant. Violet and Indigo were not so clearly defined, but I know somewhere up in the sky, those two colors made their ways. My eyes were literally glued in the sky. I was in awe until all the colors faded, Until I slept that night, until now. I really hope I could see that sky again. In my self-persuasion, I searched things about that rainbow. What's it called (to my dismay this rainbow or phenomenon was not given any name) and how it appears. A photographer said it has something to do with ice crystals acting like a big prism to sun rays. Thus, the refracted light become the rainbow reflected in the sky. It is a good explanation but it left me with more inquiries. I still keep on searching for real answers. Or maybe there are no answers, just a little experience of a miracle. Before I end this article, I would like to inform readers that there are no ice crystals, or crystal mountains in the Philippines. =) Article Source: http://www.saching.com About Author / Additional Info: An independent author for www.saching.com, from Philippines.
