Terrorism in the name of Islam - Terrorist activities in India

First of all let me tell you that I am a follower of Islam. But I strictly condemn any terrorist activities being done in the name of Islam and being termed as “Jihad”. Islam doesn’t support the violence and war. If we observe at the wars happened during the time of Prophet Muhammad, it was just used as an ultimate tool for the survival from the attacks of enemies. Today’s attack towards the innocent non-Muslims can never be compared with those. Attacks on Kashmir pundits, attack on parliament, attack on WTC, murders of political leaders are the insult to Islam as well as for humanity.





Can these terrors who justify that the terrorism they do is as per the religion, come up with the evidence for that? Neither the Quran nor the words of prophet supports it. Moreover Islam upholds the concept of peace and universal brotherhood. It says the followers to respect other religions and its followers. The word Islam is the derivation from the Arabic word “salaam” which means peace. But it is very unfortunate that its followers have broken the meaning of the religion itself.

It should be noted that the terrorism has been used by many terrorist groups just for the political gain. But it has been justified in the name of the religion. Here I would like to quote the statement from great philosopher George Bernard Shah “Islam is the best religion, but with the worst followers”. When he wrote many articles praising the concept of Islam, one Muslim scholar questioned him, “Then, why don’t you accept Islam?” He gave the answer that “Today I couldn’t find a single true Muslim in the world”. This answer of a great philosopher really has some meaning about today’s Muslims in following their religion. So shall we rise voice against using the name of Islam for the worst terrorism?
