The people's car - that's the tag it carries with itself, it boasts of one more tagline and that's: ‘The cheapest car in the world'. It is the Nano. It has been the most awaited entry in the world of automobiles and cars specially. Chairman of the Tata group, Mr. Ratan Tata has bestowed upon the people belonging to the middle class, a paranormal package. Tata Nano has come as a blessing for the 18 million families who could only dream of a car before 23rd March, '09, the day when this magnificent product of engineering excellence was launched. Mr. Ravi Kant, the managing director of Tata group is the man who spearheaded the marketing of this superlative car. There were initial doubts over the efficiency, competence and endurance of the car, but all those raised eyebrows were soon dropped. The Nano brushed aside qualms and withstood the standard crash test carried out by experts and all the necessary car tests were passed too successfully. The car fact file follows: Variants: Nano Basic, CX, LX (the maximum deluxe version) - Maximum speed: 105 km/h - Mileage: 23.6 km/l - Engine capacity: 624 cc - Available colors: Blue, Gold, Ivory, Red, Silver and Yellow. - Smallest turning radius: 4 m The Tata Nano is believed to possess the power of uniting splits and dismissing divides set by finance and social status. Nano possesses incredibly spacious interiors (the apparent view is different, don't be deceived). The Nano will supposedly serve the 58 million two-wheeler customers. The Nano has recorded an enormous 2.3 lac bookings since its launch and is set to hit the Indian roads extensively before Durga Puja this year. The honeymoon period for Nano is here to stay. Thanks to Mr. Ratan Tata, who has stood by his promise. It's also commendable that the Singur controversy did not impede the process towards building something which the world will envy. India has up its sleeve, the credibility and aptitude to possibly surpass the most developed nations in product development and manufacture.
