Subconscious Mind and empowering BeliefsBY: maftab92 | Category: Self Improvement | Post Date: 2009-03-25
Belief is any idea, thought or concept about self or others, which becomes strong enough that it seems to be true or looks like based on reality. Moreover, it starts dominating our lives. There are two types of beliefs: empowering beliefs and disempowering beliefs. Empowering beliefs are those beliefs, which help us achieve our goals. For example, a young person's belief is to become a successful executive. He will achieve his goal because he is holding a positive or empowering belief. On the other hand disempowering beliefs tend to limit us and make us unable to achieve our desired goals. For example, a young man wants to be successful in his life but he is having his doubts; he is not sure whether he can do it or not; he is having fears and apprehensions. He will not achieve his goal because of his disempowering belief. How do we develop beliefs? We develop beliefs whether empowering or disempowering, whether positive or negative as children and the source could be parents, teachers, siblings, friends and significant others. All the time child keeps listening -do this- and don't do this; -you can do it- or -you can't do it-. Whatever information a child gets from his or her environment becomes his belief and he behaves accordingly in his adulthood. This phenomenon is also known to be -programming-, which means a child's mind is programmed to hold certain beliefs and those beliefs determine his behaviour in the future as an adult. Why childhood programming is so powerful? We need to know that a child is in the process of developing logic. His logic is not fully developed, he is unable to analyse things the way adults can do. In fact a child is living in the subconscious world. Subconscious part of the mind is responsible to control the 90% of our behaviour and bodily functions including long term memory; emotions and feelings; habits and relationships; addictive patterns; creativity and involuntary bodily functions. Is it possible to overcome disempowering beliefs? Yes! It is very much possible as said by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer -you have a very powerful mind that can make anything happen as long as you keep yourself centred-. Nature has given us a powerful mind, which is one of the most powerful creations in the universe. Unfortunately some people are not aware of the potentials of the mind and others don't know how to use it. The way human mind gets programmed, it can be reprogrammed. For example, a person who developed disempowering beliefs as a child and resultantly developed fears, phobias, anxiety, doubts, apprehensions, lack of confidence, low self image, low self esteem, passive behaviour and inability to achieve desired goals. That same person can be transformed totally by using a simple method. Given below are the steps: 1- To bypass his conscious mind because whatever he learnt at the subconscious level has become conscious process. 2- To help him achieve a relaxed state of mind very much similar to hypnotic state. 3- Giving him positive suggestions repeatedly for a number of days. It is like sowing a seed in the subconscious mind, which will become a plant, will grow into a tree and will give the fruit finally. Once you develop an empowering belief, it gives you potential to get into action and you achieve the desired results.
