Specializations: Additional things to know besides specializationBY: Muhammed Haris | Category: Self Improvement | Post Date: 2009-07-19
Specializations have made people to become experts in the field of specialization. One can easily approach a person who has the specialization in a particular subject, when he has some issues related to that subject. But there are some demerits of specialization which can be overcome by conscious efforts. Specialization makes one concentrate only on his subject or on just one subject. He tends to lack the knowledge on other things. We have the examples like Albert Einstein who was known as a most genius scientist, had asked a carpenter to make two holes on his door, one big hole for his big cat another small one for his small cat. It is common sense that the small cat could come through the big hole and so two different holes were not needed. Concentrating too much on one subject can make you look him stupid on other things. So, in spite of being specialized in one subject, one should not ignore other subjects, which are useful in day to day life. One should learn about other subjects as well. In today's world, it is very important know other subjects as well Along with being specialized in one particular field one needs to have knowledge on following things as well 1. One should have a good knowledge on his language and communication skills. If a person has a very good knowledge in his field of specialization, but if he does not have good communication skills, his knowledge would not be of much help. 2. One should have a good knowledge on geography. It helps him to travel independently. 3. One should have a good knowledge on business and finance because everybody needs to deal with money. If a person does not have a good knowledge about business and finance, he may land up losing his money in the dealing. His earning may even get misused. 4. One should have a good knowledge about local languages. If a person is good with English language only, that would not help him to communicate with a layman in a non-English speaking country. So he needs to learn local languages as well. 5. One should have a good knowledge on current affairs and news. It would help him to uphold his dignity before other people. 6. One should have a good knowledge about laws. It will help him to know about his rights and responsibilities as a citizen of a country. 7. One should have a good knowledge on health, to maintain healthy practices. 8. One should have a good knowledge on the culture of the land and honor them. 9. One should also have good knowledge about facilities, so that he would not have to go for middle-man.
