Soybean is one of the most important gifts of nature to humans. It is in fact a nutritional gift. It contains all the three macro-nutrients necessary for nutrition. They contain protein, carbohydrate and also fat. Minerals and vitamins are also present in soybeans. It is a plant that produces legumes, where the bean is in a pod. It is a healthy food for all ages. There are many other health benefits of eating soybean.

Soybean contains so much protein, that it is a healthy replacement for animal based foods like milk, meat and other such foods. This makes it more sought after. Some of the important aspects of soybean can be read below:

1. Low fat: It is plant based food. So it does not contain much fat. This makes it a healthy diet for people of all ages.

2. The beans can be processed in many ways and can be made into soy meal, soy flour, soy milk, and a wide range of other such foods.

3. Soy sauce is also made from soybean. This is considered as a healthy food and many nutritionists and dietitian's advice people to include this in the diet.

4. Fiber: Soybeans contain both soluble and insoluble fiber. This makes it important in preventing colon cancer by increasing the stool bulk. The importance of fiber has again been emphasized by many nutritionists.

5. Cholesterol: Soybean helps in reducing the cholesterol levels. Soybean actually helps in reducing the total and the low density lipoprotein(LDL). Soybean also maintains the levels of the High density lipoprotein(HDL). These both help to reduce the risk of various diseases like heart attacks.

6. Soybean has even been made into something called soybean butter. This can be used instead of the peanut butter. This will help in reducing the cholesterol levels. This is true because soybean butter is less fattening than pea nut butter.

7. Soymilk is also being produces and being consumed as a health drink. This milk is packaged in small containers and marketed.

Summarizing the health benefits of soybean, we can say that soybean helps in:

Cancer prevention

Cholesterol reduction

Reducing osteoporosis

Regulation of menopause

Reducing the risk of heart attacks by altering the cholesterol levels.


Considering the many health benefits of including soybean in the diet, every household should make it a point to make it part of their every day meal. This will help in improving the health and decreasing the risks of various diseases. Soybean can be prepared in other methods too and sine there is no problems in eating plant based foods, this should replace the animal based foods for better health.
