Whenever I walk on the bank of river Payaswini, I get very emotional. My eyes go wet. Payaswini is a river in Mangalore district, where I spent my childhood days along with my elder sister Zohra with whom i use to go for fishing. We use to catch fishes using some traditional equipments used in the villages. We use to scream and celebrate when ever we use to catch a fish. My sister did not know cooking properly, still she only used to cook fish curry and fry for me. Many times that used to be only half boiled, still we use to enjoy eating it. There use to be special taste in the fish we caught and cooked ourselves. My sister got married when I was eleven. She was just seventeen at her marriage. It was the tradition of our village to conduct the marriages of the girls at very young age. I was helpless to protest against my parents about her marriage. I remember the day of her marriage when I cried a lot. Days went on and I grew up. My sister use to come home occasionally but things could never be the same. I thought that i would never have another sister in my life. In my college days and in career I had many girls as my friends. But, I did not find any of them respectable as my sister, until I met Shaila Dheedhi, my colleague at Hinduja GSL (Formerly HTMT). Her actual name is Shailaja Damodar. Later she married to our manager Asif Azad and became Shaila Banu. She never wears casual dresses. Always comes in formal dress. She never behaves casual. But I tease and irritate her. I enjoy her anger. I had seen many people who are short tempered. But she is short and sweet tempered. She is elder to me but younger in experience in my process. Still she is very talented and has wide knowledge. So she is capable of guiding me. I call her Dheedhi. Many times I call her as DD as a nick name. Earlier I was thinking if there would not have been any girl in this world, there would not have been so many crimes. But after meeting Shaila DD, I think why not every girl in the world becomes like Shaila DD to uphold the dignity of women. The fashion sense has just made girls as attractive things. But exceptional girl as Shaila Dheedhi is an example of being respected in the society. July 24 was the birthday of Shaila Dheedhi. I wish her belated happy birthday. This article is dedicated to both the sisters in my life. I am not sure how long I will be with her. But I hope this article would remain in their heart and in saching.com forever.
