High density lipoprotein is one of the important substances of the body and helps to prevent the occurrence of certain high morbidity causing diseases like heart attacks. The body needs to have high levels of this cholesterol for the body to be safe from these diseases. There are various methods of increasing the levels of this High density lipoprotein. This article presents a list of these simple methods that will help to keep the person healthy by increasing the levels of this High density lipoprotein.

1. Exercise:

Exercise is a very important factor that will help to increase the levels of High density lipoprotein. This is because of various mechanisms that act to increase the level of this cholesterol which is also considered to be the good cholesterol in the body. The most important type of exercise that will help to increase the levels of High density lipoprotein is aerobic exercise. The best type of aerobic exercise is walking and the other types of aerobic exercises include cycling, swimming and jogging. All these exercises can help to increase the levels of High density lipoprotein.

2. Change in food habits:

Change in food habits are also very important if a person aims to increase the levels of High density lipoprotein. There are certain foods that have to be consumed in lesser quantities. Other foods have to be completely avoided. Some foods like Sea Fish can be added to the diet as this will increase the intake of Omega 3 fatty acids that will also help in increasing the levels of High density lipoprotein.

3. Alcohol:

One of the important factors that can help to increase the levels of High density lipoprotein is the consumption of alcohol. Though this fact is not usually advised by physicians, this is true. The person should only consume about 2 ounces of the drink to have a positive effect. If the person consumes more than this, then it can cause ill effects. These ill effects can be the increase in the calories consumed by the person. Even the regular consumption of the alcohol should be controlled in those with increased Body Mass Index as this can cause various other problems.

4. Decrease in smoking:

Smoking is another important factor that plays a role in the levels of High density lipoprotein. When a person smokes, it decreases the levels of the High density lipoprotein in the body. This should be kept in mind and the person should stop smoking to increase the levels of High density lipoprotein.

These are the various simple methods of increasing the levels of the good cholesterol or the High density lipoprotein. These factors should be kept in mind of the person if they are in a high risk condition for diseases such as cardiac problems. The normal level of the High density lipoprotein in the body should be above 50 as this can prevent the occurrence of heart diseases. This is because the High density lipoprotein helps to take away or wash away the blocks in the various arteries of the body of a person.
