The Body Mass Index of a person is an index of the weight of the person as compared to the height of the person. When a person is tall, they can have more weight and still be healthy. The Body Mass Index may actually be the index that shows the health of a person. If the person has a high Body Mass Index, then it may mean that the person is not very healthy as their weight is high when compared to their height. These people should take immediate steps to control their weight and their Body Mass Index should be lowered. This will prevent them from getting any associated diseases.

If the person with a high Body Mass Index does not take any steps to control their Body Mass Index, then it can lead to a lot of complications and the person may be affected by a host of diseases. These diseases can include very chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, cardiac problems and also stroke.

There are various methods to reduce the Body Mass Index. This article gives a list of the methods that help to reduce the Body Mass Index.

1. Calorie count:


The person should start off with counting the amount of calories they are consuming each day. When they are able to calculate the amount of calories that they are consuming, then they will be able to decrease the calories that they are consuming. Each food that is consumed has a certain amount of calories in it. The calorie count will make the person to be able to plan in advance for their action regarding the high calorie count.

2. Get a list of low calorie foods to be consumed:

The Body Mass Index can be easily reduced by consuming low calorie foods. People who want to reduce their calorie intake should get the list of these low calorie foods. This will enable them to be able to buy these kinds of foods. This can then be consumed by the person to be able to reduce the weight and thus reduce their Body Mass Index.

3. Exercise:

The exercise that a person does is also an important method of reducing the Body Mass Index. This is because as the person exercises, the calories in the body are expended and so the person becomes leaner and a reduction in the weight of the person occurs. This will help to reduce the Body Mass Index. Exercise can involve aerobic exercises like walking. This is the best kind of aerobic exercises. There are also various other kinds of exercises like swimming and even jogging.

4. Reduced consumption of alcohol:

The person who wants to reduce the Body Mass Index should make sure that the amount of alcohol they consume is reduced drastically. The another important aspect is that the person can completely stop the consumption of alcohol because this will help the person to lose a lot of calories and prevent any increase in the Body Mass Index.

These are the various important methods of decreasing the Body Mass Index of the person. Adequate reduction of the Body Mass Index will help the person to be able to lead a healthy lifestyle.
