Simple methods to decrease the calorie intake

Calorie count has become very important for people who are weight conscious. This is because obesity has become a very severe problem. Obesity has been the leading cause of various chronic diseases in many people. Obesity has caused blood pressure, heart diseases, diabetes and even cancer. This knowledge about the various disease conditions that can be caused by obesity and also the fact that obesity can be controlled by decreasing the calorie intake has made millions of people want to try and reduce the amount of calories that they take in.

There are a few simple and practical methods in which the calorie intake of a person can be decreased.

1. Vegetables and fruits:


There are a lot of vegetables that have very less calories in them. When these foods are consumed after boiling them or as salads, then the person will have a lot of calories reduced from the body. There are vegetables that have a lot of water content in them and these vegetables can be consumed in large numbers to ensure that you do not consume too much of calories.

2. Avoid Tea and coffee:

There are many people who consume a lot of tea and coffee. They really do not count the calories in these beverages. It has to be understood that though the tea and coffee as such may not have calories that can cause damage, the sugar that is added and the milk that is added and even the cream are all rich in calories and will add up to quite a considerable amount.

3. Avoid Alcohol and Sodas:

Sodas and alcoholic beverages also are very rich in calories. A person who consumes a lot of these will have a lot of problems because these drinks can cause the calories consumed to be stored in the body and then be converted into fat. This is the reason for people telling to avoid these drinks.

4. Lime juice without sugar:

This is a good drink that can replace many of the other drinks. If a person does not have hypertension, then the lime juice can have a small amount of salt in it to add the taste. Plain buttermilk can also replace the lime juice as a choice of drink if the person would like to have it. It should be remembered that this too should be made from skimmed milk to prevent calorie intake.

5. Plenty of water:

Water is something that is very essential for the person to live. All people who want to avoid intake of empty calories should make sure that they drink a lot of water. This will help in reducing the hunger, filling the stomach and also keeping the person healthy. So adequate intake of water is very important.

These are the various foods that should be either consumed or avoided by any person who is calorie conscious. Almost all of us who are sedentary in our lifestyle should be conscious of the amount of calories that we consume to make sure that we lose weight or at least maintain our weight within optimal levels.
