Everyday, there are hundreds of small things that we need to remember. There are days when each of us have forgotten a familiar face and have broken our heads trying to remember where we have seen the face. There are also instances in everyone's life where we have been searching for small things like key, or a file. Those are the days when we really think if there is a real solution for the problem of forgetfulness.

The second group of people who need to remember or keep things in memory are children and adolescents who are in schools or colleges. They will need to memorize a lot of things for their daily activities.

There is no simple, easy or magical solution for forgetfulness. There are methods by which we can keep most of the essential things in our memory. This is true for normal people. For those with degenerative brain disorders like Alzheimer's, there is not much we can do, but the process of forgetfulness can be decreased.

Here are a few ideas that may help retain the memory:

1. Keep repeating important details: When you keep repeating things, it is sure to stay in your memory for a long time. People who are starting to lose their memory should do this. When you keep repeating the important things that matter in your life, it keeps your brain sharp.

2. Keep reading: As you read various magazines or other papers, your mind remains sharp and the brain keeps working. The reason people get forgetfulness in old age is because they reduce their activities. Along with that they also reduce their reading habits. Reading will keep the brain cells working and prevent them from becoming degenerated.

3. Do some analytical problems: It is not that only young people should do analytical problem solving to keep the mind sharp. It also works for older people. So when the person tries some problem solving activities, it will keep the brain working and prevent degeneration.

4. Do not lose hope: When a person loses hope, then the slide will be very fast. So even if you are not able to remember certain things in spite of your best effort, keep trying again.

If all the above things are done on a regular basis, it will help to improve the memory. The older the person gets, the more such activity should be done. Even in young people, these activities will help them to remember things.
