Shopping is an activity that most men do not like, at the same time, it is an activity that many women like. There are various factors for this. One of the reasons is that women like to buy new things. Men only like fancy electronic items and fancy goods. These are not available at a cheap cost. So men have to plan their shopping and have to save before they are able to purchase a lot of things. This is not true about women. Women do not mind shopping for various trinkets that may not cost a lot. They d like to ship for expensive stuff, but they also do not mind shopping for even things with lesser cost.
This brings us to the question if you are a compulsive shopper and what could be the possible traits of a compulsive shopper. A compulsive shopper is one who likes shopping and it can even become a pathological condition where the person gets emotional satisfaction from shopping. This makes the person shop for more and more goods finally exhausting all their money. Then they start feeling guilty about spending money by purchasing various things.
The various methods of identifying a compulsive shopper are listed in this article. They are:
1. Emotional satisfaction by purchases:
A person who is a compulsive shopper gets a lot of emotional satisfaction from shopping for various items. This is because when they shop they feel as if they are doing something that is good and they usually go on a buying spree.
2. Feeling guilty later:
The person who is a compulsive shopper usually feels guilty because of the various purchases made. This is because the person is unable to fathom the cause of the purchase. The guilt feeling is one of the important reasons for the person to be identified as a compulsive shopper.
3. Buying without a shopping list:
All compulsive shoppers buy without a shopping list. This is because they do not mind buying anything. For them buying something for the use is not a criterion. They just have to buy the object. This is the reason they are compulsive shoppers.
4. Exhaust all the money:
Another factor that is very important in identifying a compulsive shopper is that they exhaust all their money by shopping each time all the time. This is because they purchase various things and continue doing so till they finish spending all their money.
5. Useless purchases:
The other important method of identifying a compulsive shopper is that most of the various purchases made by the person will be useless purchases. This is known from the fact that once the things are purchased, the things will lie in the house without being used. This is another important sign to identify if a person is a compulsive shopper.
These are the various factors by which the compulsive shopper can be identified and differentiated from a regular shopper. There are some compulsive shoppers who go to the extreme by going into debt. These people may need counseling.
