Sensible methods of losing weight and preventing obesity

Obesity can cause increased morbidity or illness. It can also lead to increased rates or mortality or death. This is because of the various diseases and complications associated with obesity. To prevent obesity, people go to great lengths., Some go on a diet, others go on an exercise regime. All said and done, the ultimate method of losing weight lies with the patient. These are the sensible methods where the individual will be able to reduce obesity. Here are a few sensible thoughts that can help you to reduce obesity if followed.

1. Neither fast nor feast:
Diabetic patients are told not to feast or fast. This holds good for people trying to reduce their weight too. Obesity can be controlled if a person avoids fasting or feasting. Fasting increases the craving for food. So once a person fasts, he or she compensates for the lack of food in the next meal. This shows that there is no point in fasting. Feasting can be the main cause for obesity. The individuals who want to reduce the weight should try to stop eating just a few moments before they know that they will be full. This helps control the amount eaten. Slowly but steadily, it will help in reducing obesity.

2. Avoid left over food: Eating left over food is one of the major reasons for the extra calories that a person adds. Women are more prone to become obese because of this. Regular eating of the food that is left after dinner or lunch is over can add the few extra calories. The reason for eating the left over food can be to prevent wasting the food. It can also be to avoid stuffing the refrigerator with the food.

3. Use certain foods freely: Though obese people should avoid almost all food that is tasty, there are certain foods that can be eaten more. Foods to be avoided include those full of oil or fat. The foods that can be taken more in amount are fruits and vegetables, either eaten raw or cooked by boiling without adding oil. This is a sensible way of eating as it will prevent obesity and help in losing weight.

4. Desserts: Desserts should be avoided during meals. Though it may be part of a meal course, it should be avoided to shed the extra calories. Though the amount of food in dessert may be very less compared to the actual meal eaten, the dessert is likely to contain as much or more calories than the food intake.

5. Drinks and extra calories: Drinks can be very rich in calories. This is true of both soft drinks and also alcohol. They may be liquids, but the amount of calories in them will cause obesity if taken regularly. The sensible thing to do is to avoid the drinks. This is another sensible method of losing weight and preventing obesity.

6. Backsliding: Backsliding can be a major cause of obesity. Once an individual has decided to lose weight, the person should have determination and should not backslide.

These are the most important and sensible things that will help in preventing obesity and can also help a person to lose weight.
