We honor our elders as senior citizens and just reserve some traveling seats and some other silly concessions to them. But in the real world the senior citizens are being ill treated by the youngsters, the young generation is not much bothered about the senior citizens. Even the few facilities reserved for the senior citizens are not for the common man they are mostly at the reach of retired high officials. Common senior citizens do not even have the information about the facilities available to them. If they ask for their rights, they are asked to submit hundreds of document .proving that they are senior citizens even though it is clear by looking at them that they are the senior citizens. Today if India has been honored for its attitude of peace and integrity, it is because of the ideal life style of our elders. But it is unfortunate that they are very much neglected by the present generation. At least we need to have the courtesy of giving them a peaceful death, for all that they have done for us. Children don't want to live with their parents when they grow big because they do not want any interference i their life. But what if their parents had thought the same when they were little, they would be in some orphanage by now. Even when they are struggling to cross the roads, the younger generation does not have the courtesy of reducing the speed of the vehicles, to allow them to cross the road. They may be the people who were holding our hands to help us cross the roads, when we did not even know how to walk. In turn we need to hold their hands to help them to cross the roads now. Leave the matter of helping them by holding their hands, at least we can have the courtesy of reducing the speed of our vehicles to allow them to cross the roads, so that they do not get injured.
