There are various sectors that have been doing well in the equity markets recently. There are also some sectors that have been doing badly in the recent times. There is a question in the mind of every investor as to the best strategy that has to be employed to remain invested and make a killing in the market. There are also many people who are on the sidelines waiting for the right opportunity to park their money in the equity markets.

These people wonder a to the best sectors that will outperform the indices and also the other sectors in the new year. This article lists a few of the sectors that are likely to be out performers in the equity markets of India.

1. Infrastructure:

The country is developing at a fast pace and the economy of India has not been hit as much as the other countries by the global recession. This is very important because this means that the country will keep growing at a rapid pace. When an economy develops, the sector that will benefit the most is the infrastructure industry and this sector is sure to boom after the recent fall it had during the global economic crisis.

2. Steel:

When the infrastructure develops, along with that the steel industry is bound to also gain. This is the next sector that will be growing at a rapid pace when the country and the economy moves forward. This steel sector is filled with many good companies and the stocks of these companies are bound to see a stellar rise in the coming year.

3. Banking:

The banking industry is also bound to be progressing well. This is especially true about the public sector banks. There are many challenges that have to be faced though and the interest rate changes can make the sector have a few hiccups, but the overall growth will be good at least till the end of 2010. So investors can invest in the banking sector too for gains.

4. Shipping:

This is a sector that is not given much concentration by many people. This is because of the various hurdles that people have when they have to plan for investing. They do not know the fundamentals and the functioning of most of these companies, but now, it has to be understood that when the economy is getting back on tracks and India develops, there will be a lot of exports. When the exports increase, the profits of these companies will increase and they are sure to be out performers in the coming year.

5. Financials:

The financial companies will also be the out performers in the coming year because of the increased income generated by the companies and the booming economy will increase the liquidity and this in turn will help the companies to have more income through various avenues. This will ensure that the financial companies will also have a lot of growth in the year to come.

It should be understood that the various sectors mentioned in this article are just guidelines for investors and they should not be taken literally. Investor discretion is very essential before investing.
