Also true is the fact that the salaries of the lawyers who practice in India are also varied just like in any other country depending on various factors. These factors determine the salary that the lawyer is able to get.

Factors determining the salary of Lawyers in India are:

1. The skill:

The skill of a lawyer is very important as in any profession. When the lawyer is able to work diligently and argue excellently in the court only will the lawyer be considered skillful and this also plays a role in the salary earned by the individual.

2. Experience:

The experience of the lawyer is very important. Though the lawyer may be very skilful and knowledgeable in his work, the experience is very important because when a person knows that the lawyer is experienced and can win cases for them, then only will any person seek legal advice or hire the lawyer. These is the reason for many young lawyers to starting out as assistants in an experienced lawyer's office and then slowly get their exposure to different types of cases and get experienced themselves. So the experience determines the salary too.

3. Knowledge:

For any lawyer, the knowledge of the law is very important. There are various laws and various cases present. The lawyer should be able to access various law books and try to learn more from these books. This will help the lawyer to become knowledgeable. When the lawyer is knowledgeable, he or she will be hired by many leading law firms that will be ready to pay more as their salary. This makes one understand that the salary of a lawyer also depends on the knowledge of the lawyer.

4. Specialization:

There are various kinds of Lawyers these days and the specialization of the lawyer plays a major role in the salary that the Lawyer earns. The person may have specialized in criminal law or company law. Some would have specialized in civil law. The salary of the lawyer may also depend on this kind of specialization because when they specialize, it makes one understand that the lawyer has mastered his skills in that particular law and so will earn more.

When a lawyer is a rookie or has just completed the relevant education to become a lawyer, the person may get a very small salary of even Rs. 5000, especially if they work in a small law firm. The same person if they work in a bigger firm that has a lot of clients, will be able to earn about Rs.15,000.

At the same time, when a person who is well qualified and has a lot of experience, skill, knowledge and has also specialized in a particular type of law is present, he can either practice alone and take up very important cases or will be hired by huge law firms. These kind of people will be able to earn a lot of money which can range between 50,000 per month to even 3,00,000 per month. This depends on their expertise alone.
