The rate of road accidents has been increasing all over the world. The death and wounded numbers show a continuous increasing trend. But is seems that, this matter has been less observed and not been given much attention. Everybody is busy in their own lives and are not noticing every accident or not getting the news on every accident. So all the accidents are not being observed. In most of the cases, an accident is considered to be a common factor on the road. But nobody comes out of their homes or travels to meet with an accident.

We have very systematic set of traffic rules but they are not rightly practiced by all the people on the road. Several people take driving lessons, they definitely learn how to move their vehicle but don't care to learn to follow the traffic rules as well. Speed limits have been set for various roads but nobody care to look at them. Driving as fast as possible has been the latest fashion and trend. For youngsters racing their cars or bikes has become a major source of entertainment. What they fail to realise is how dangerous this king fun can be and what their families will go through if they meet with an accident.

The continuous increase in the traffic requires continuous improvement in the infrastructure facilities as well. Somehow, only the traffic seems to be increasing, the roads are not being maintained and enhanced at the same rate. Two wheeler riders need to wear helmets by law but we still see people not wearing their helmets and the security officials are not doing much about it. Wearing helmets has been just to avoid the possible penalty charged by security people. It was not considered as a safety measure for one's own life.

So we need to take the factors of accidents more seriously and take serious measures to minimize them. The causes of accidents have to be analyzed and relevant and strict measures need to be taken to control the road accidents.
